BMIP is staffed by senior executives who have worked in China's leading multinational companies and local IP agencies and have extensive experience in protecting and enforcing IP rights in China.

BMIP's daily operations are managed by Dr. Edward Yang, a lawyer trained in both PRC and Germany, who is also the managing director of the agency.

The wider team includes Shuying Zhang, senior manager of the Trademark Filing Unit; Nan Da, senior manager of the Trademark Advisory Unit; Mia Yang, manager of the Trademark Filing Unit; Paris Zhu, manager of the Customs IP Protection Unit; Sally Wang, manager of the Trademark Submission Drafting Unit; and a number of associates and paralegals.

Edward YANG (Ph.D. in Law at Hamburg University/LLB at Renmin University of China/B. in Engineering at Beijing University of Sci. & Tech.) is the managing director of Baker McKenzie IP Agency (Beijing) Co., Limited (BMIP). Before joining BMIP, Edward was in charge of IP enforcement in Asia Pacific at Nokia and Microsoft for over three years. He was also an associate at Baker McKenzie's Hong Kong office for nearly seven years, handling IP prosecution, corporate IP strategy, and IP enforcement/litigation. He is a licensed lawyer in China and has been practicing law at Fenxun Partners (Beijing) since 2016. Edward has been active at several industry associations like QBPC in mainland China and EBPC in HK. He was elected to the role of the vice chair of QBPC in 2013. Edward is a frequent speaker at domestic and international IP forums. He is also the author of a number of articles on IP in legal journals and industry publications.

Shuying has extensive experience in handling trademark registration and associated matters, having worked in one of China's leading IP agencies for more than 10 years. Shuying has a bachelor's degree in English linguistics from the Civil Aviation University of China.

Mia obtained her bachelor's degree in business administration from the Capital University of Business and Economics (Beijing, China) in 2006 and her master's degree in law from the University of Bristol (the UK) in 2013.

Sally has more than 8 years' experience in the area of IP and trademark. She joined Baker McKenzie’s Hong Kong office in 2013 and joined BMIP in 2017. She has gained extensive experience in handling various trademark prosecution matters, including trademark application and appeal, opposition, invalidation, response, rebuttal, cancellation, well-known mark application and other trademark/brand protection-related matters.

Sally obtained her bachelor's degree from the East China University of Politics and Law in 2011 and obtained her LL.M. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2012.
